what impressed me most about his person was that he truly sought to spread God's glory in this world. since he listened to our God he was able to become a tremendous blessing for the people he ministered to. although he was already retired he decided to minister to the church all around the globe. he took it upon himself to become an 'interim pastor' to various churches- at last to our church. he accepted the position of being a pilgrim who wanders from location to location in order to support church people in transitional times (when there was a lack of a pastor etc.)- in cultures different from his own, in changing places, without being able to get settled anywhere for a decent amount of time.
from my perspective these are the real heroes- who give up their pleasures and amenities but strive to help spreading the kingdom of our God. and who truly make a difference in numerous lives. the time that he had left here on this side of heaven he would spend in service that people around him would get to know God.
he often was an encouragement to me and i am thankful that i had the chance to meet him. during these grievous moments i never want to forget what he has sown into my life. i am convinced that he is receiving a glorious crown for his dedicated life here on earth.

he is truly a hero gone home.

Sorry to hear that... Now he has a much better life I believe.
How often did you see him (I do not know his face)?
At least I hope this lost earth will shortly receive another one comparable to him.
